Mums@Work- Networking Day on 11th Nov

11th November was a day I had marked in my calendar since the last 1 month for it was to be MY day - my day both as a Mum and as someone who is recognized for being more than just a Mum. It was to be my day when I could step out of the house, meet enterprising Mums, mums who are having a second go at their careers or or self-starters of home-grown businesses. It was a Networking Day for mums-like me organized by a Mumpreneur Sher-li Torrey, founder of Mums@work (Singapore) whom I had only known through mails and sharing of articles. I was looking forward to socialize for fun and network for business. I was hoping to pick up some tips on how to balance my life which is a constant tussle between what I want to achieve some day and the household duties which consume me every day. I have been always wary even skeptical about TV programs wanting to protect my son from negative influence. But as he grew older, I knew I could not entirely banish TV from his life only limit it and filter it. Fortunately, we shifted to Singapore where I discovered Playhouse Disney Asia - a lovely basket of children's programs -educative, entertaining and engaging! I am happy to explore a child's world with my son on Playhouse Disney for 2 hours everyday, whoopie! Read on for my latest suite article on Playhouse Disney and why I think it's perfect for preschoolers.

The nerve of it!

I have had a terrible last month with a slip disc which quashed one of my nerves (the nerve of it!)...& the worst news to me as a writer was that the physiotherapist banned me from sitting in one position for long (am not the fastest being in the world, so it does take me a while before clicking on the publish button) ....& when the pain was better, it was only because i was sleeping half-dead to the world because of those powerful pain killers which seemed to numb all my nerves including my brains. Result, no articles. No wait, I did manage one & guess what it was on the condition of a pinched nerve..I was determined to find out more about the condition & well gain some empathy, so here is the link :)

Self-promotion seems to be the keyword these days....not everyone can do it well, me neither but learning the tricks from co-writers and friends....
